Astrological Analysis - January 2012

Astrological Analysis for January 2012

Things Change Still More

I discussed this in greater detail in last month’s post. Since about April of 2011, monthly charts have targeted key areas of our lives: our personalities and relationships, the social safety net and the legal foundations of society. Other 2011 charts undermined authority and polarized public debate. January’s chart does all of these things at once.

Neptune, transitioning into Pisces since April, featured prominently in pretty much every chart. On February 3rd, Neptune will finally enter Pisces for a new 164-year Neptune cycle. Hence, January’s chart is both a culmination and a sign of things to come.

The Global Becomes the Personal

January’s chart makes these global disruptions and transformations very personal. Most of the planets are in the left, personal half of the chart. They will envelope the ego in distorted perceptions, twisted intentions, misdirected energy and, often, indignity.

This complex energy seems designed to update and upgrade the ego, to force hard economic choices, and to reveal new, revolutionary ways to deal with money. All at once.

That will help liberate the ego, ultimately. However beneficial in the long run, in the moment, having one’s ego liberated is a difficult experience at best.

Strong Egos Lose Their Grip

The Sun and Mercury are near Pluto in Capricorn in the 1st house, straddling the ascendant.

This placement channels too much power of the wrong kind into the ego and does so from an awkward angle. It creates a troublesome mix of 1st and 12th house energies. It speaks of a serious imbalance, or lack of balance, in the ego.

Conscious and unconscious intentions will mix awkwardly. The ego’s weaknesses are displayed prominently alongside its strengths. That is especially true for those in positions of authority.

Life Intersects Massively with Economics

This chart’s real power is in the 2nd house of grassroots finances. A large group of heavenly bodies occupies the 2nd house in Aquarius, Pisces and Aries. This stellium gives us some notion of the kind and the seriousness of the challenges the ego faces.

Pallas in Aquarius helps us perceive the helpful an unhelpful patterns in our finances.

The Point of Substance in Aquarius exposes embarrassing flaws in our financial affairs.

Pallas and the P. of Substance are close together and act in combination. Combined, they are likely to produce embarrassment, scandal and public outrage – all centering on some kind of financial issue.

Neptune in Aquarius will add more confusion to financial issues and bring increasingly frantic, desperate quest for answers.

Neptune will also contact the midpoint of Mercury and the ascendant. This suggests deception and slander. Other midpoints indicate a strong undercurrent of negativity in January.

Chiron is in Pisces in the 2nd house.  In the sign of Pisces, Chiron seeks healing through spirituality. In the 2nd house, Chiron seeks comfort through materiality. This Chiron placement mixes these two contrasting, seemingly contradictory modes of healing.

Venus is in Pisces in the 2nd house. Venus in Pisces loves spiritual things.  But Venus in the 2nd house, which it rules, loves material things.
Once again, the planets ask us to reconcile two very different approaches to the same issue.

Basically, Venus and Chiron foreground our financial problems in poignant, difficult ways.

We are confronted with painful, aggravated dilemmas that involve finances and healing.

These in turn pressure the ego to release the patterns that cause this pain. However beneficial the end result, the difficulties can easily overwhelm the unwary and unprepared.

I think this strong Venus/Chiron conjunction keynotes the entire chart.  Expect complex, bittersweet realizations about the cost of our economic predicament, especially in key relationships. The Venus/Chiron conjunction in Pisces is exact on January 16th at 11.11 am, UT.

Vesta in Pisces in the 2nd house brings a dedication to helping others with their financial issues.

Ceres in Pisces in the 2nd house blends issues of nurturance, spirituality and finances. It says we can’t consider ourselves spiritual people if we ignore the material suffering of others.

Uranus in Aries in the 2nd brings revolutionary ideas about the distribution of wealth to the fore, and forcefully so, at the grassroots level.

Ceres and Uranus are only a few degrees apart in different signs. Together, they point to the emergence of revolutionary ideas about the distribution of wealth, again at the grassroots level.

Mars Stirs the Pot

Mars in Virgo opposes this stellium from 8th house. The 8th is the house of collective finances and power. Several factors aggravate this seemingly simple opposition.

• With Uranus transiting Aries, its home sign, Mars carries a mix of Mars/Uranus energy everywhere it goes. Mars/Uranus is a rowdy, discomforting energy that ranges from feisty to rude. It is usually irresistably provocative on some level.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury and directly affects our thought processes and nervous responses.
Virgo is a cold, nit-picky, short-sighted placement for Mars/Uranus energy.

Hence, in Virgo in the 8th house, Mars/Uranus will likely make the actions of financial leaders look callous, poorly timed, out of touch and altogether provocative.
The blend of Virgo, Mercury, Mars and Uranus energy will also add a wired, schizzy quality to events.

• Scorpio is the home sign of the 8th house. Mars is co-ruler of Scorpio and the 8th house. Also, Uranus is exalted in Scorpio, home sign of the 8th house. These background factors further intensify this Mars opposition.

• Mars is also slowing down, prior to retrograding. This condition intensifies and complicates a planet’s energy.

• Finally, while Mars is preparing to retrograde, all the other planets involved are moving forward. This will add yet more tension to the mix.

Snafus Abound

Because Uranus and Neptune are involved, we are very likely to see freakish and extreme manifestations of the complicated energies in January’s chart. The darker corners of the human psyche are likely to be illuminated, and all too brightly.

As If All That Weren’t Enough

Juno is in Scorpio is the 10th house,
near the mid-heaven squaring the 2nd house stellium.

Juno governs life-long partnerships. It is in the sign that governs big finance, power and sexuality.  It is in the house of authority figures. It is also in difficult relationship with the 2nd house stellium.

This bizarre, contradictory placement is very hard to read.  I think it points to unmanageable tensions in all relationships involving authority and shared interests. A rebellious, resentful vibe enters all such relationships.  But such relationships give our lives their structure and organization.  So we’d best be careful how wer express these tensions.

Essentially, we are likely to sense chaos seeping deeply into important areas of our lives.

Frothing on the Cake

Eris is the spirit of strife and rancor.  It represents the emotions of war at their absolute worst.

Eris is in Aries in the 3rd house of community, communication and political discussion. Eris is also near the Moon, which governs public awareness and the public mood. Basically, people are in the mood for a fight.

In sum, January’s chart upsets important areas of our life at the most basic, day-to-day level, bringing a spirit of change to areas that up to now might have remained relatively unaffected.

Generally, January will incline us all to change, to experiment, to innovate.  It will also be tough on the ego and on nervous systems generally.

Some will go to extremes to ease the tension. (Translation, many will turn to sex, drugs and rock and roll for relief. For better or for worse.)

January’s chart is not about the aftershocks of recent economic crises.  Rather, it marks the threshold of a
new, not necessarily easier, and more intensely personal phase of global transformation.

Sign by Sign Forecast for January 2012

Astrology Forecast for January 2012

FOR EVERYONE ~ New Year, indeed. This isn’t the world you lived in last year. Social and economic trends are finding a new groove. Opportunities are opening up. But the unexpected, even the wildly unexpected, will become the norm. So don’t stand too close to the fire.

SIGN-BY-SIGN

♈ ARIES ~ Mine field. The pressure to act a certain way is immense. Even if you wanted to cave in, the pressures conflict.  Some are flatly contradictory. And none of it adds up to good advice. Power plays and reckless behavior further complicate the situation.  Things could get out of hand.  How you finally proceed is completely up to you. And you're responsible for the outcome. Be careful not to let financial or work issues spark hurtful exchanges between yourself and those you love.  Thoughtful speakers or writers can provide helpful guidance.

♉ TAURUS ~ Rough Seas. The cross-currents are strong and intense. Wills are clashing, personalities are colliding.  But somehow it all seems to be going your way, supporting your needs. Right now, many people are struggling to find a way forward. The planets are empowering you to help them.  The healing and reconciliation so many situations call for come very easy to you.  You will be especially helpful to women friends who might be in need of healing.  The financial situation is 'fluid' but it holds promise.

♊ GEMINI ~ More serious than it looks.  January is a big booby trap.  People are saying provocative things.  Nobody's talking compromise.  Arguments are springing up like dandelions in spring.  Nearly anything you say could upset someone.  It's up to Gemini to find the one or two perfect, magical words that transform confrontation into consensus. Romantic or intimate situations can too easily veer off in the wrong direction. My advice? Keep it light. Keep it uplifting. Abstinence is advised, for now.  Choose healing over self-indulgence.

♋ CANCER ~ Standby.  January is about waiting for someone to reach out and guarding against unhelpful or flat out crazy maneuvers.  The ball is everywhere else; you’ll wonder if you will ever get to make a move. It might feel like you’re doing little and accomplishing less.  But the moves you can make will be important.  When the ball reaches you, it will be because of serious need and extreme effort on the part of many others. Your choices will have far-reaching effects and benefit many.

♌ LEO ~ Multiplying snafus.  Confusion and drama combine in chaotic ways.  In the end, it could be hard to tell your feelings from everybody else's, to  tell good intentions from bad, or to prove who said (or did) what. This could all affect finances unpredictably, uncontrollably and unfortunately. It's easier to mess things up more than to fix them. Issues won't be sorted out quickly.  Detachment, firm boundaries and caution are the order of the day. As for romance, it could get complicated.

♍ VIRGO ~ Freaky chain reactions. You’ve enjoyed influence over events; outcomes tend to validate your opinion. That remains true, sort of.  But now, small actions, or even a few words, can have big, wildly unpredictable effects. It will be especially hard to make yourself understood properly. Things could spin quickly, freakily out of control.  Impulsive financial moves especially could have unforeseen consequences, for yourself and others. You will have to pay especially careful attention to detail to avoid mishap. The margin for error is surprisingly small.

♎ LIBRA ~ Balance and boundaries.  Folks at home are feeling needy.  Job commitments seem to expand indefinitely.  Interpersonal boundaries are blurring, even disappearing, especially on the job. Inappropriate infatuations and over-dependencies are risk factors at work, now, too. That makes it really hard to maintain a proper work/life balance.  Keep your job commitments simple, straightforward and reasonable going forward. Money remains tight and personal energy is still low. However, financial assets and other valuable resources, including social capital, are quietly accumulating. This is gradually insulating you from life's many uncertainties.

♏ SCORPIO ~ Delay changes. The urge to make big changes in keeping with long held dreams is strong. But big new initiatives aren’t supported. Circumstances are more complicated than they look and will get more so. Also, you are entering a wealth-consolidation phase. Near term, gains will be more in the way of social capital than hard cash.  It would be much safer to consolidate your present position. Cement important alliances. Friendship, romance and relations with the young are favored, but expect the unexpected even there.

♐ SAGITTARIUS ~ Simplicity squared. A confusing influence is settling over your home life for a lengthy stay. You’ll be misunderstood more often than not.  You’ll also become increasingly dependent on partnerships with others for support and advancement. Keep things simple and straightforward. Decide what your priorities are and who is most important to you and hold on to that. This advice will be especially helpful in dealing with a complicated, potentially upsetting situation on the home front in January.  Finances are under generally favorable influences now.

♑ CAPRICORN ~ Extreme diplomacy.  It’s true that Capricorns are especially influential right now.  Despite that, being understood and getting the right results has probably never been more challenging. Cross-currents, cross-purposes and miscommunication are the norm. Despite all the static, important plans can move forward. Real progress is still possible. You will encounter an unusually messy political situation in your locale. Don’t assume you are getting the whole story there. Your financial affairs will soon be free of an influence that increased chances of waste and loss.

♒ AQUARIUS ~ Discretion advised.  Discontent and rebellious attitudes will surround you. This could feed your anxieties and stir up your own secret gripes. But motives are tangled and feelings are intense. Trouble is possible. An influence that insulated you from others is fading, too; you could easily get drawn in. The planets urge you to stay detached. Support constructive discussions. New technologies provide opportunities for expansion.  Still, finances are coming under a confusing, ‘obfuscating’ influence. Set simple, straightforward financial objectives and keep them clearly in mind.

♓ PISCES ~ Synergies.  Depending on how Pisces plays these vibes, they could be either at the leading edge or at the edge of a slippery slope. The planets are getting you in on the ground floor of revolutionary economic developments and burgeoning social trends.  But, being honest, these vibes are seductive and deceptive, too.  The planets say that you should let yourself be guided by knowledgeable, trusted authority figures.  Don’t stay home and daydream, immersed in personal concerns. Follow constructive suggestions from those in the know.

Astrological Analysis - December 2011 & 2011 Recap

December 2011 & 2011 Recap
(see previous posts for details)

Whose Side Are You On?

Pluto in Capricorn continues its decade plus stress test of global institutions.  Uranus continues in Aries triggering reform campaigns and revolutions. Neptune is on its way into Pisces, firing up aspirations and undermining authority. And dissolving established thought patterns. And also causing psychological problems and raising spiritual issues. We are also starting to feel the force of the powerfully revolutionary 2012 chart.

Wave upon wave of intense astrological energies. Things, and people, are coming apart under the strain.

The current troublesome energetic wave comes from Neptune's move into Pisces. It is entering Pisces in February, its home sign, for a 13 year stay. It is also beginning a new ~165 year cycle of the Zodiac.

Neptune in Pisces will trigger a re-think of, well, virtually all the ideas we think we believe. Increasingly, it also looks like Neptune in Pisces will trigger a battle over systems as we seek to replace the ones we have.

A recap of 2011 is essentially a recap of Neptune's transition into Pisces.

Neptune has been paying a lot of attention to 8th house issues, too,
sowing confusion and uncertainty in 8th house matters. The 8th house governs collective wealth and large, long-term financial commitments and the immense power around all that money.

The Big Re-Think

As Neptune re-enters Pisces, it begins a new cycle of the Zodiac. One-hundred-and-fifty years years of established ideas are suddenly up for revision.

Neptune governs the ideas on which our lives are based. These ideas support contracts, agreements, constitutions, religions and beliefs, and so on. So Neptune is unraveling the agreements that hold our lives together. It's dissolving our concept of the the world and making us re-imagine the world.

Neptune in Pisces will also bring profound psychological and spiritual changes. It will continue to undermine our understanding of ourselves.  It will continue to release old, potentially disturbing stuff into consciousness.

In weakening the hold that existing ideas have over our minds and rummaging through our subconscious, Neptune has weakened the authority of ideas, and, thus, weakened authority generally. Disorder and unrest are spreading at a good pace.

Neptune's Progress
April 2011 – Head Butting on Slippery Ground

Neptune first entered Pisces early in April 2011.  It was powerfully placed in April's chart, exactly conjunct the mid-heaven.

There was a T-square in April's chart, too. It pitted demands for economic fairness against a stubborn unwillingness  to sacrifice for the common good.  Both came up against leaders looking for economic solutions. There was, and is, head butting all around.  I think Neptune in Pisces will bring a widespread increase in head butting, in both frequency and intensity.

Meanwhile, Neptune was making the ground soft and slippery beneath the feet of head butting combatants.

May 2011 - Economic Foundations Flooded

In May, Neptune in Pisces sat in the 8th house.

The 8th house governs many important economic things and processes.  Generally speaking, it governs that huge pot of collective wealth that sits at the heart of most modern societies.  And the power enjoyed by those who control that wealth.

Among the things the 8th house governs are social welfare funding, taxation, inheritance, insurance, home mortgage lending, and retirement savings.  And many more critically important things besides.

Neptune in Pisces in the 8th house renders all these important 8th house issues massively uncertain. And we have seen increasing uncertainty surrounding all major financial issues in our lives. More specifically, Neptune has been cutting big holes in the social safety-net and smudging lines in the social contract. You might recall Republican initiatives to privatize Medicare began peaking at about this time.

June/July - 3 Eclipses
Financial Turbulence Continues, Psychological
Troubles Increase

There were three eclipses from June 01 to July 01 2011. These eclipses landed on the financial axis of the chart. They revealed dangerous new cracks in global economic systems. The debt crises (more than one) in Europe became increasingly acute from about this time.

Meanwhile, Neptune was attacking our psychological and spiritual foundations. Neptune retrograding in Pisces was close to the very sensitive 4th house cusp.

This placement undermines the sources of order in our personalities. Personalities would begin to unravel. Communities and societies will begin to unravel (those that hadn’t already unraveled). While this kind of thing doesn’t make the headlines, increasing numbers of people in our lives are showing signs of psychological and spiritual crisis. Just ask around.

Combined, the 3 eclipses and Neptune’s assault on the vertical axis of the chart, the axis of authority, shook up our reality fairly seriously.

Neptune retrograding in Pisces sets the stage for the widening and deepening of psychological malaise and social unrest.

August & September 2011 - Neptune Undermines Authority

In August, Neptune is the top of the chart, again.  It opposes the Sun, Mercury and Venus at the bottom of the chart.  In other words, Neptune hits the vertical axis of the chart - again.

In September, Neptune hits the vertical axis yet again. This time as part of a so-called Yod. This Yod released deeply suppressed psychological issues.  It set complex psychological dramas in motion.  Squirrelly behavior is becoming increasingly common. Our dirty psychological laundry is on display.

The vertical axis of the chart is also the source of authority in a chart. Hence, Neptune undermined public authority figures and our personal control over our own personalities. Respect for authority is diminishing rapidly.  Also, people are experiencing more trouble holding it together spiritually and psychologically. Ask around.

October - The People Seek A Voice, Neptune Brings Even Greater Economic Uncertainty

Our confusion and discontent found a public voice in October. That was about when the now global Occupy Wall Street movement sprang into being, or at least moved into the public eye.

October's chart is dominated by a Yod-like structure.  It involved Mars, Pluto and Uranus.  I called this a hard Yod.  It motivates people to elbow their way into high-level discussions between those in authority. Which pretty much describes what The Occupy Wall Street movement did, er, does.

Meanwhile, Neptune was retrograding in Pisces over the cusp of the 8th house.  That continued to weaken our economic foundations.

You’ll recall the fight over raising government borrowing limits (the debt ceiling crisis) in the United States, which badly rattled already rattling world economies.

November - Financial and Moral Issues Forcefully Combine (& 11.11.11)

A strong but impaired wealth-building trine dominated November's chart. It has some of the characteristics of a solid wealth-building aspect, but it is impaired in a number of ways.

This trine, a patchwork of good and bad omens, gave off wildly conflicting, wildly contradictory economic signals.

And the global wealth-building engine did really show some signs of life but, for a variety of reasons nobody can seem to get their mind around, it just won't rev up.

Among other things, this wealth-building trine is intersected by a Mars/Neptune opposition.  Mars, holding down one point of the trine, opposes retrograde Neptune, by now all the way back in Aquarius.

Issues of economic fairness (Neptune issues) become important in the economic debate (8th house issues).  In fact, issues of economic fairness practically hijacked the economic debate.

Economic and moral issues intersect beautifully, and potentially explosively, in the 99% v. the 1% idea.

November - December 2011 - Riptides

As November opens, Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus and Neptune are all retrograde. Under current turbulent astrological conditions, retrogrades cause suspenseful and agonizing delays in painful and urgent situations.  And other unfortunate things.

Close to 11.11.11, Neptune and Chiron changed direction, beginning forward motion within a day or so of each other.  This vibe foretold an epidemic of health crises that have strong psychological and spiritual components.  Illness and injury (Chiron) will be accompanied by unusually high levels of psychological releases and spiritual realizations (Neptune, soon to be in Pisces).

By Christmas, all planets will have changed direction and be moving forward. Mercury will begin and end its retrograde in the same time period.  When planets change directions, they cause weirdly intense and unpredictable vibes. Having so many planets doing that in such a brief period of time under these conditions will cause a lot of, well, weirdly intense and unpredictable vibes.

But there's more. Between Thanksgiving Day and December 10th, two eclipses will occur. One takes place as Mercury turns retrograde.  Another occurs as Uranus turns direct. Close to that time, Mercury completes its retrograde and turns direct again.

This devil’s brew of strange vibes will produce potentially dangerous astrological cross-currents.  It will also throw out violently mixed signals about the path ahead.

These vibes can bring unusually complex disruptive events that are hard to understand and even harder to do anything about.  Personally, we're likely to find all this confusing and frustrating.

Jupiter will turn direct on December 25th.  We'll see a burst of rapid progress lasting until Mars retrogrades in late January.  Most likely, however, there will be more progress than we bargained for.  There usually is when all the planets are in direct motion.

It's useful to have a planet or two retrograde.  They act as a check on hasty (rash and arrogant) actions and their unintended consequences.

December - Neptune asks: Whose Side Are You on? Personality Strain

December's chart is all about picking sides.  Our personal and professional situations are changing very rapidly.  New possibilities are emerging.  However, it is clear we'll need to 're-position' ourselves socially to take advantage of these possibilities. Re-networking, “re-alliancing,” realignments will proceed at a dizzying pace.

This realignment will occur on the personal level, but, on a larger scale, it will also affect political loyalties and global alliances.

Virtually all relationship areas are affected (houses 4 thru 12).  Most of the pressure will come from our most important relationships (houses 6, 7 and 8)!

The self we present to the world (houses 1, 2, and 3), is affected as a result. Houses 1, 2, and 3 are empty. They lack planetary support.  Consequently, our self-image could easily 'distort' (implode?) from the impact of these changes in relationship areas. We could easily strain our personalities (even more) as we try to cope with it all.

Guidance Amidst the Chaos

Neptune conjunct Vesta saturates the chart with vibes from the midheaven.

Neptune represents ideals.  It also dissolves ties so we can pursue those ideals.  Vesta represents dedication and life focus.

Combined, Neptune and Vesta push us to reorganize our lives according to some higher life goal. This urge will pervade events in December.

Do’s and Don’ts

The Moon's nodes impose a kind of order on all this.  The north node tells us what the planets want us to do.  It is in the 6th house of work, well-being and interdependency.

It tells us to stay grounded.  Do the work of building new support networks.  Do stay connected to the process. Do stay with the facts at hand.  Stay in the moment. Check your parachute frequently.

Employed in the 6th house, Neptune/Vesta energy will help create alliances strong enough to weather the coming changes.

The south node in the 12th house says don’t retreat into spirituality.  We need to avoid religious dogma and set aside abstract metaphysical issues.

Neptune/Vesta energy deployed in the 12th house will bring divisiveness.  It will encourage suspicion, hostility and sectarian conflict.

The north and south nodes lie along the 12 house/6th house axis.  A lunar eclipse affects the exact same part of the chart.  That tells us that the choices we make in December - the goals we choose and the means we use to achieve them – will be fateful indeed.

Neptune/Vesta - The Bottom Line

On one level, the Neptune/Vista energy supports re-networking. On another level, though, it supports rapid political mobilization.  People are awakening politically. Neptune/Vesta is urging us to ally ourselves with like-minded people for essentially political reasons. That is definitely happening.

Midpoint Highlights.

Four midpoints stand out in the December composite chart.

The Sun at the midpoint of Pluto and the north node. Some will try to impose their will ruthlessly on others, and vice versa. Rampant power plays. Read the fine print.

Mercury at the midpoint of Mars and the midheaven.
This points to careful planning. With all the urgency and chaos, careful planning can only be a good thing.

Uranus at the midpoint of Jupiter and the midheaven. This points to well-founded hope that we can make the right move. There are opportunities out there and many of us will find ourselves in the right place at the right time.

Neptune at the midpoint of Venus and Uranus.  This points to unconventional sexual relations and strange flirtations, generally.  It also leaves us too open to suggestion.  Optimistically?  It brings a willingness to break personal boundaries to become more inclusive. Realistically?  Probably a few more major sex scandals or sordid details from those already in the news.

Sign by Sign Analysis for December 2011

Astrology Forecast for December 2011

FOR EVERYONE ~
Go with what's counterintuitive.  December's vibes are asking each and everyone of us to avoid doing what comes most naturally to us. They are urging us to break our habitual patterns and embrace the chaos that is surrounding us. When challenged like that, we usually try to stick with what we know. This time, staying with the comfortable and the familiar, doing what comes natural, will have exactly the wrong result.  It won't be easy to change because so many of us are feeling exposed and vulnerable. Also, many are tempted to force their will on others. It's not all bad. There are new opportunities opening up and luck will lend a helping hand. But to benefit, we're going to have to maybe suppress some of our own strongest impulses and try something different.

SIGN-BY-SIGN

♈ ARIES ~
Stay up in the air. Your decisions depend on the decisions of others.  However, nobody's finalizing any decisions right now. They're busy coping, seeking new alliances and finding new ways to get ahead.  Other people are trying to force a decision on you. Your own thinking is now under seductive and deceptive influences, too, so maybe it's best to avoid firm commitments anyway. You can depend on luck to help you through the rough spots.  You might experience some pretty bizarre flirtations . . . or flirtations with the bizarre.

♉ TAURUS ~ Think twice. Lots of things going on out there will turn out favorably for Taurus, especially things in distant or faraway places.  Meanwhile, though, people could demand levels of 'cooperation' you aren't prepared to give. Romantic urges or hit and run flirtations could pull you in unconventional directions.  Some relationships could come to an abrupt and surprising end. These days, I think, it's often best to just go your own way anyway. It's a good month to take it one step at a time with frequent pauses for thought.

♊ GEMINI ~ Herding cats. You need to help people forming new support networks to realize unfolding opportunities.  But egos are getting in the way.  Suspicions are easily aroused. People are making unilateral demands. Still others are very defensive.  And it would be hard to underestimate the level of misinformation. Work hard to avoid the appearance of unfairness as you work through this maze. Luck will lend a hand, but, frankly, the planets aren't making your job easy. Your ability to think and speak clearly is your most valuable asset under these circumstances.

♋ CANCER ~ Stealthy support. You are confronted everywhere by people in motion. People are dealing frantically with urgent challenges and unfolding opportunities. These folks dearly need Cancer's insightful, nurturing input to succeed and you want to provide it.  For better or worse, though, you somehow can't participate directly in their efforts and you don't have much leverage.  And even if they weren't all super busy, they are headstrong and both push and touchy.  Your mission is to find new and subtle ways to help others cope in these exciting but turbulent times.

♌ LEO ~ Embrace chaos. People are scrambling to meet urgent challenges and stay on track to profit from emerging opportunities. Things are more than a little chaotic. Outdated and rigid attitudes are blocking progress, however.  There could be trouble. The planets are empowering you to dissolve those rigid and outdated attitudes. They are also empowering you to block those who would simply impose their own will. But there's a catch. It's something Leos will find especially challenging.  To access your powers, you'll need to suppress your own ego and avoid center stage.

♍ VIRGO ~ Trust your instincts. You might feel like the foundation of your existence is shaking badly.  Maybe it is.  But everyone else's foundation is shaking worse.  Also, others don't have the advantage Virgo does.  Like, the car is skidding out of control. Maybe you are pretty dazed and confused. But everyone but you and the driver is in the back seat. At least you're within arm's reach of the steering wheel. Somewhere inside you are very much in touch with what's happening, also. Your efforts, however frantic, will benefit everyone else.

♎ LIBRA ~ Rough and tumble.  Many people are making crucial decisions and forging important new support networks. That's where Libra comes in, right - decisions and relationships?  Well, yes and no. People have to do all this on the fly, amidst clouds of swirling unknowns. They're fighting hard realities with best guesses. These aren't well-reasoned decisions and firm commitments made under controlled circumstances, the kind Librans love most. To be of greatest help, let others do the talking. Your famous diplomatic abilities will serve everyone better than your reasoning and matchmaking abilities now.

♏ SCORPIO ~ Hold your fire. Scorpios have sensitive antennae and they prefer calm and order. Their instinct is to tighten control of a situation before others even suspect a problem. They aren't afraid of a fight, either, if that's what it takes.  So, December won't be easy for Scorpio. You'll need to let others speak out more loudly and act out more aggressively than you would ordinarily.  It's  easier to keep the peace if you know what's bothering people and to find that out you'll need to let people disturb the peace.

♐ SAGITTARIUS ~ Nitty-gritty is good. Fussy details, caution, intense teamwork - these things come hard to free-spirited Sagittarius. But if you find yourself mired in such suffocatingly un-Sagittarian things, please lean into it.  People need to network heavily and discuss things endlessly and in excruciating detail. People need to "drill down" through the same old stuff to fresh ideas and unexplored realities. It's the only way to work through existing challenges and harness emerging possibilities. Rest assured that underneath it all, what they're getting at is exactly the kind of thing Sagittarians live for.

♑ CAPRICORN ~ Tread lightly. You are working from a place of strength, its just that you're facing strong resistance.  And things are moving forward, now, although the obstacles multiply faster than the opportunities.  The key is to take an unconditionally positive, open approach to people and issues that normally annoy the heck out of you.  These issues won't yield to the kind of . . . um . . . power plays that Capricorns sometimes prefer.  People are feeling vulnerable and exposed.  Some tender loving care will work wonders.  A thoughtless word could set negotiations back indefinitely.

♒ AQUARIUS ~ Like magic. Today's big issues are all Aquarian issues. That's true even if a veritable blizzard of pesky, real world issues obscures that fact. And even if everybody is focused obsessively on simple, day-to-day, un-Aquarian matters. People kind of have to be that way right now.  So release your idealistic Aquarian focus for the time being.  Address people's immediate concerns.  Engage others on their terms. Aquarian vibes are so pervasive Aquarians can't help but synergize everybody's efforts. Your intuitively inspired input will help folks find the missing pieces they're looking for.

♓ PISCES ~ Split vision. There are unusually powerful, idealistic forces at work within the Piscean mind now.  Your intuition is closely attuned to the spirit of the times, too.  It's tempting to remain absorbed in your own fascinating thoughts. However, financial matters require that you get out and do something. Those ideas enriching your mind will be surprisingly helpful in meeting the challenges you and everyone else find out there.  It's good to have a rich inner life. But staying grounded is at least as important as nurturing your inner life now.

Astrological Analysis - November 2011 (& 11.11.11) for Everyone

 November 2011 ( & 11.11.11) for Everyone

Life Changing Events (Happy Holidays!)

November 2011 is a month of personal decisions.  It will bring the continuation of now familiar stresses and strains. It will also mark the beginning of an even sharper and more intense confrontation between people with conflicting religious, political and economic views. It is also a time of surprising inner, personal transformations. And, need I add, mounting stress.

Meanwhile, Pluto is
still in Capricorn, still stress-testing global political and economic power structures. Uranus is in Aries stimulating protest, rebellion and outright revolution. Neptune is about to enter Pisces where it will trigger heightened ideological clashes. We are also beginning to feel the effects of the unusually powerful 2012 chart, which promises straightforwardly revolutionary change.

Taken singly, the energy output of each of these long-lasting astrological events would be overwhelming. Combined, their transformative (and disruptive) power is immense.

These high energy levels will also magnify the impact of other, seemingly routine astrological phenomena.

Lifestyle Consequences

Events are constantly revealing flaws in our plans and weaknesses in our support systems, forcing significant changes in our life plans.

We frequently hear that others have experienced life changing events of all kinds. Often not for the better.

We continue to experience significant relationship stresses.  It seems like all relationships are becoming high maintenance.

We are experiencing power struggles at work, at home, and in our social lives.

It is often hard to figure out what is going on in the world immediately around us. Most of us are fighting fatigue. Our thoughts and emotions often churn uncomfortably.  We are feeling an increase in obsessive behavior, nervous tics, hyperactivity and all forms of addictive behavior, major and minor.  There is a constant sense of uncertainty and urgency.  Stress is interfering with our sleep.

We are also experiencing deep upwellings of spiritual energy and insights.  Amidst the unceasing stresses and strains we achieve moments of unusual clarity and the strength to go on. We will discover things about ourselves that we never knew, even as we start turning into a different kind of person, different kinds of people.

11.11.11 and More

People have asked me about the meaning of the date 11.11.11.  When asked about a date, such as this one, I always cast a chart or two.

As it turns out, two of the most important events in November do, in fact, occur around 11.11.11.

Neptune will be stationary/direct on 11.10.11.
Neptune governs the evolution of thought and belief.

Neptune is poised to enter Pisces to begin a new cycle of the Zodiac and a prolonged and sweeping renewal of belief systems, world wide.

It often causes violence, particularly ideological or religious violence as old and new ideas clash.

Chiron will be stationary/direct on 11.10.11 at 11:11pm GMT.

Chiron governs illness, injury and healing, including large scale natural and manmade disasters and violence. It uses these things to destroy the barriers between the personality and the spirit.  Whatever it takes .  . .

Thus, around 11.11.11, we will experience a kind of one-two punch.  Neptune will begin driving our beliefs and ideas into new, more spiritual territory.  Chiron will break down barriers between the personality and the spirit.

It looks like an influence that will simultaneously push human thinking into inspiring new territory and spur violent clashes between adherents of different beliefs. Its potential for turbulence and disruption seem to me especially marked in light of the intense astrological energies now at work.

Continuing Retrogrades, Sort of

Uranus, which governs reform, including revolutionary styles of reform, will remain retrograde until December 10th. Jupiter, which governs economic growth, will remain retrograde until December 25th.

Thought and belief will move forward.  But wealth-building and reform processes will remain stalled.

Frustration with the status quo
will no doubt become more intense, especially as new and tantalizing possibilities develop.

Intense Crosscurrents

Both Uranus and Jupiter are preparing to go stationary/retrograde.  When planets change directions, their energy is more intense, more complex and harder to figure.

While Neptune and Chiron will be direct, the confusing effects of their retrogrades will still be felt.

From early November thru early January, all four planets will be in this strange condition, sending out very mixed, thoroughly disorienting signals.

These often baffling cross-currents will be multiplied and magnified by the intensity of the background energies - Pluto in Capricorn, Uranus in Aries, and Neptune's imminent entrance into Pisces and the approach of 2012.

The planets offer the promise of immense movement.  The overall effect will surely increase global strains significantly.

Taking a Stand

During November, positions will harden.  Determination to bring change – or to prevent it - will increase dramatically.  People will see with increasing clarity and consternation just how high the stakes are, even as the confusion mounts.  We will be obliged to decide were we will stand in the decisive, fateful struggles to come.

Economics, The Coming Debate

The most prominent structure in the November chart is a well-positioned, well-formed, highly energetic, but wholly deceptive grand trine. Generally, a grand trine is a highly desirable, strongly supportive, facilitating aspect. This particular grand trine is a very mixed blessing.

Mars, Jupiter and Pluto are involved in this grand trine.  The involvement of both Jupiter and Pluto make it a wealth-building trine.

Totally Mixed Economic Signals

The meaning of this grand trine isn't what we might expect, or hope it to be.

Jupiter is retrograde. That will impair the grand trine's wealth-building powers and sew ever more economic doubt.  However, Jupiter is also slowing, prior to going stationary/direct.

This will give some the deceptive sense that the global economy is about to surge, despite evidence to the contrary, and vice versa.

Also, Jupiter and Pluto are now entering a difficult part of their wealth-building cycle. They will remain in difficult relationship for several years.

The upshot is an exquisitely tantalizing blend of mixed economic messages, coming at a time of deep economic anxieties and intense need.

Jupiter is also preparing to complete a third and final opposition to Saturn, further retarding economic growth.  The fact that this is the last of three oppositions supports a sense of economic relief, further scrambling the economic signals.

In effect, the grand trine is creating an information vacuum hungry for new ideas about our economic future.

Nature Abhors a Vacuum, Especially Where the Economy is Concerned

Mars in Virgo occupies the third point of the grand trine. We know that Uranus is transiting Aries, which is ruled by Mars.  This turns Mars into a roving Uranian ambassador, spreading revolutionary Uranian energy as it goes.

Mars (heavily charged with Uranian energies) is in close opposition to Chiron and Neptune, both of which are stationary/direct.

This will causes a collision of ideas - of philosophies, religious beliefs and political and ideological thought.

This burst of highly charged new ideas will collide with the massively ambiguous economic messages, bringing its own kind of chaos.  New and old ideas, good and bad, will both struggle to fill the vacuum.
To me, it suggests a perfect storm, or a tsunami, of conflict, uncertainty and confusion.

Everything Turns into Everything, or Way Too Much Information

Perhaps one of the most important outcomes is that we'll lose our ability to think of economic problems in simple terms anymore. Solving economic problems will seem to require solving issues of political and economic justice first. And that will pretty much boggle the global mind.  People will be overwhelmed.

No Going Back

A partial solar eclipse in Sagittarius also makes this a month of decision, sort of.  We will feel compelled to make a firm commitment to a future course of action. However, the issues will grow more numerous and complex as we try to make our commitments.

What happens is largely up to us, but the stars do offer some direction.

The south node is on the cusp of the 10th house near the Part of Fortune. This tells us that the planets want us to avoid decisions based on 10th house issues.

Translation: November's chart works strongly against relying on authority, old, off-the-shelf solutions or solutions based on past successes: no power plays, no appeals to established authority, no grand standing, no pat answers.

We need to turn our backs on established methods and join the quest for a new way forward.

The north node is on the cusp of the 4th house with Venus and Mercury.  The solar eclipse on November 25th also affects the 4th house.

The planets want us to favor 4th house methods. They are strongly in favor of deep thought, soul-searching and intensive discussion. We need to consider issues from the perspective of home and family - down to earth and close to home.

Urgent Issues Fuzzy Thinking, Blurred Ideas, Slowly Evolving Total Commitment

The north and south nodes all straddle the highly sensitive vertical axis of the chart.

Hence, our evolving commitment will be crucially important to every aspect of our lives. By the same token, we will be pushed toward such commitments by just about every facet of our lives.

Because the energies flow through mutable signs, this decision will probably won't be simple or quick.

All of the above astrological bodies are in fuzzy, mutable signs.  Also, Neptune will be churning out vast clouds of confusion.  Everything might seem to call for urgent action.  But issues will be too complex and too unclear for quick, decisive solutions.

We are turning a corner onto a long road. We are looking at global immersion in a complex decision making process.

Because of the eclipse, the commitment will also mark a major turning point and our choices, or our failure to make choices, and how we go about making them will have important consequences.

In Sum

The issues surrounding us will become clouded, cumbersome almost forbiddingly complex.  But we will be compelled to engage them seriously nonetheless and at to least begin making choices.

An eclipse marks a moment of truth which is often not seen as such at the time. This particular eclipse requires that we place a bet amidst confusing and fast-changing circumstances and accept the consequences, even what it is wholly unclear what those consequences will be . . . that we make a moral commitment and a leap of faith.

Post Script: Mid Point Pictures

The two strongest midpoint contacts in the chart offer us valuable pointers, too.

Saturn is exactly conjunct the midpoint of Mercury and Mars.  During November, we need to think things through carefully before speaking to avoid conflict or to avoid turning a delicate situation into an embarrassment or an outright disaster.

The second midpoint is Neptune exactly conjunct the midpoint of the Moon and Chiron. We must fight a tendency to go to extremes as we seek relief or healing.  We need to avoid playing the blame game as we seek out the causes of our difficulties.  We need to search out a path of personal healing and growth that does not impair or impede the progress of others.

Sign-by-Sign Forecast for November 2011

 Astrology Forecast for November 2011

FOR EVERYONE ~
At long last.  The world will shake off its stifling inertia in November.  Finally.  There will be an immediate surge of progress in vitally important areas, areas blighted by delay for too long. There will be a sense that more important progress will follow in the months just ahead.  But battle lines will also be drawn.  There will be conflict over the direction of change.  Those who want to block progress will confront those who embrace it.  People with irrational or hysterical views will cloud debate.  It could be some time before things settle into a stable pattern again.  We’ll all need to reinvent ourselves on a continuing basis to keep up in a world that is rapidly reinventing itself.

SIGN-BY-SIGN

♈ ARIES ~
Tread softly. The abundance you receive this month will be of several kinds, all of which you've been hoping for.  Health, finances and personal ambitions will all get a boost.  However, the process of change could be nervous-making.  Shaping opportunities to suit your specific needs and preferences could be tricky, especially with all the unfamiliar details. You'll also be dealing with stressed people, all working hard amidst uncertainty and doubt. Anxiety, misinformation and plain old wrongheadedness could derail progress, at least temporarily.  Urge others to remain calm, focused and civil.

♉ TAURUS ~ Some assembly required.  A vision of the future will finally begin to emerge. A vision of how to realize that vision will also begin to dawn. The operative word here is "begin."  The stars are well-aligned for Taurus.  Things do look ready to will fall into place - just maybe not all at once. It could take months to figure out specifically what you need as well as what you want.  You must also position yourself to seize the opportunities as they move past you.  Impatience or irritability will make things harder.

♊ GEMINI ~ Positivity vs. hyperactive negativity.  Gemini is in tune with the opportunities now opening up, probably better than most of the people around you. There is more at stake now than many realize and you need to make that understood.  However, the air is full of misinformation, doubt, conspiracy theories and plain old hysteria.  You, too, are prone to overexcitement. Your special contribution will be to help generate the clarity, confidence and harmony needed. Don't underestimate the resistance to be overcome or the importance of your role in overcoming it.

♋ CANCER ~ The "eye" in team work.  You may have sought partnerships invested in project that you had to put on a back burner for lack of progress. But things are now gaining traction. Many ideals in which you invested emotionally are also starting to bear fruit.  There are many who would intentionally or unintentionally derail your efforts. Your famous intuition is in especially good working order. Share your insights willingly. You and key partners will need those insights to see through the confusion and misinformation and to steer around stubborn obstacles.

♌ LEO ~ Healer in chief. Some are talking about opportunities.  Some are broadcasting their own worst fears.  Some are going to ridiculous extremes. Some are spewing crazy talk.  But what Leo hears most clearly are demands for healing.  Everyone must be heard.  Fears must be calmed.  People need to be talked back from extremes.  Hysteria must be dampened. Obstructions must be politely but firmly overcome.  This isn't just the usual drama, either. Your intervention is vital.  Each of your healing achievements will yield substantial benefits, now and for many years to come.

♍ VIRGO ~ Small victories.  Virgos might feel like they woke up in the middle of a riot for all the furor surrounding them.  There are many big problems out there and some are approaching crisis levels.  Unfortunately, absolutely nothing is going to get fixed fast or easily.  New solutions certainly won't come online soon enough to restore needed calm. Things really could get out of control.  As so often in recent times, you have a special feel for the situation. Your input could help avert harm and produce greater benefit than anyone realizes.

♎ LIBRA ~ Place your bet carefully. Unusually delicate financial decisions await. The outcome depends on the decisions of many others who have their own priorities and who aren't necessarily thinking very clearly. It also depends on events you simply cannot foresee. Some heavy-hitters are involved, too.  Rather than the careful reasoning you prefer, you'll need to go with intuition, educated guesswork and improvisation. And then live for awhile with the consequences. The planets suggest an emphasis on fairness.  It would be the right thing, even if the good guys didn't have an edge.

♏ SCORPIO ~ Renewal. Others might be concerning themselves with difficult and complex choices this month and how to take advantage of emerging financial opportunities. There will be some of that for Scorpio. But Scorpios could find themselves more preoccupied with issues related to a lifelong partner.  You could be especially concerned with the darker, secret side of such a relationship and how it has burdened you in some especially difficult way.  What will make November important and memorable for you will be a deep healing and quiet reconciliation in this life partnership.

♐ SAGITTARIUS ~ Good luck and introspection.  The planets line up well for Sagittarius in November.  Personal charisma peaks.  Luck blesses you financially and in relationship areas.  Travel and/or educational matters prosper.  November marks a fine prelude to the lengthy, challenging phase of your life that is now approaching. Ties to family, friends and familiar beliefs will weaken as a journey of self-questioning and self-discovery begins.  New horizons will appear in the realms of spirituality, art, music, and literature.  Be careful to do right by existing commitments.  Avoid unhealthy forms of escapism.

♑ CAPRICORN ~ Progress plus confusion.  Capricorn should make progress on priority issues in November with the promise of more progress to come.  But you could be shocked as well as frustrated by the outlandish objections some will have to your plans.  Others could come to you with wildly unrealistic expectations.  People could get very emotional, even troublesome.  The best way to allay fears, manage expectations and minimize resistance is with patience and reason.  Sound reasoning might look like a tough sell in this highly charged environment, but it remains your best bet.

♒ AQUARIUS ~ Give it a while.  A kind of mist has clouded the Aquarian lens for many years.  It softened events and created emotional distance.  It also deepened your understanding. This mist is now dissipating.  You will be more directly involved in everything. You will also feel stronger.  Stimulating new possibilities will present themselves.  You are a more complex person, now, and the world is more complex and fast moving than you remember it being. It will take some time and effort to integrate the new, better you into this fast-moving, intense world.

♓ PISCES ~ Into deeper waters.  An enchanted mist will soon settle over Piscean minds.  It will get denser and remain so for many years.  It will create emotional distance.  It will make you even more intuitive and absorb you more completely into your own thoughts and feelings.  You'll be even less willing to settle for a standard version of reality.  You won't feel as robust as you might like, sometimes.  But it will make you more powerfully Piscean than you already are.  But stay in touch with the rest of us.  We'll really need your Super-Piscean insights.

Astrological Analysis - October 2011 for Everyone

Analysis - October 2011 for Everyone

Approaching a Watershed Moment

We can best understand October 2011 as preparation for major events that will begin in November 2011.

In October, there are four planets retrograde. By the end of December, they will all be moving forward.

In February, Neptune will move into Pisces, taking us across a major historical threshold.  The combined effect of this forward motion and Neptune's entry into Pisces will push us over a major historical threshold. And most likely into even more turbulent times.

Stationary/Direct Movement

Neptune will move forward on 11/10. Our ideals, inspiration, our vision, beliefs and expectations can move into new territory. Old, outdated beliefs are currently experiencing a temporary resurgence. The ideas that will replace them are slowly gaining prominence. They will break into the open in February when Neptune enters Pisces. Expect intense conflict between old ideas and emerging new ideas.

Chiron will move forward on 11/11. Healing processes and health care issues will move forward.

Uranus will move forward on 12/10.  Processes of reform and change will move forward.

Jupiter will move forward on 12/26.  Wealth-building processes will advance. However, general financial conditions remain rough.

Neptune/Pisces Ingress - Crossing the Threshold

When Neptune enters its home sign, Pisces, next February, it begins a brand new, ~165-year transit of the Zodiac. (There is an extensive discussion of Neptune's entry into Pisces in my April 2011 post:
http://tinyurl.com/3ds2n6s)

Our ideas and our ideals will begin a major new stage of evolution. We will begin breaking free of outdated, under developed or distorted ideas and ideals that have affected our lives for more than 150 years.  We will begin building a new set of ideas and ideals and evolving old ones.

The result is likely to be chaotic and conflicted as new and evolving ideas collide with old ideas.  The conflict of ideas that we are currently seeing is only a prelude.

October is the still, quiet moment before we cross this threshold onto the real battleground of ideas.  It will offer us our last big chance to delve deeply into our own hearts and minds before the conflict of ideas begin in earnest.

The planets are giving us special, added support in October so we can achieve greater clarity and deeper commitment.  And to help us find release from old mental and emotional limitations.  And to help us break limiting, confining patterns of thought and behavior. After October, once the shift begins in earnest, we will have to do these difficult things on the fly.

As for events themselves, the world will remain in something of a holding pattern in October. Expect no resolutions until November.

October's Aspects

Many Familiar Relationship in October

Some of October's aspects are familiar.  A dense matrix of planetary pressures continues to stress all relationships.  I will not discuss these issues again, here. For those who are interested, there is an extensive discussion of these relationship issues in my September 2011 post:
http://tinyurl.com/4yvtd7u

So What's New in October?

October's charts include an unusual structure.  It is triangular, like a Yod, only harder.  It is made up of two sesquiquadrates – one of the minor difficult aspects – and a square.

Mars is at the apex, strongly placed in Leo in the 1st house.  With Uranus in Aries, the home sign of Mars, Mars is carrying a powerful and problematic Uranian charge. Mars and Uranus very often combine in awkward, disruptive, uncontrollable ways.

Pluto and Uranus are squaring each other at the base of this Yod-like, triangular structure.

All of these planets are difficult to deal with, singly or in combination. In this structure, their difficult energies will grate and chafe against each other (and us), producing a great deal of friction and outright conflict, both inner and outer.

The aspects in this structure are not exact, but the planets involved and its placement lend it special force.

Speaking Up, Acting Out.  Loudly.

This hard Yod will bring an obsessive, repetitive focus on a particular goal or set of issues. In this case, the issues are the assertion of individual, personal preferences in the face of debate among more established powers at higher levels in our society.

The wealthy and powerful are fighting it out amongst themselves.  Now, the little guy, people on Main street, people at the grassroots, want a say, too. Boy, do they ever.

This hard Yod will likely cause aggressive, persistent efforts to be heard amidst the conflict going on in the corporate boardrooms, the legislatures, ministries and cabinet rooms around the world.

Individuals at the grassroots, on all sides of the issue, will try to aggressively, forcefully insinuate themselves into this battle of ideas now raging at high levels of government. This will escalate, widen and deepen social, economic and political conflicts across the globe.  This trend, already becoming apparent, will gain strength going forward.

Layers of Complexity, Clouds of Subtlety

The hard Yod is potentially very explosive, especially with Mars, Uranus and Pluto involved.  However, it is embedded in a supportive, protective mystic rectangle.  (So, incidentally, are the difficult aspects affecting relationships.)

The mystic rectangle involves: 1. Mars (self-assertion), 2. Sun, Saturn and Juno (stress testing of relationships), 3. retrograde Neptune and Chiron (deep healing and spiritualizing energies) and 4. Lilith, portal to the repressed, irrational and dysfunctional.

This mystic rectangle, taken by itself, supports deep psychological purging and personal healing amidst stressed and rapidly evolving relationships.  This process will be tough even with the support of the mystic rectangle. Added to the energy of the hard Yod, it presents a uniquely intense and important set of personal challenges.

Hard Yod Plus Mystic Rectangle

The supportive, protective mystic rectangle is linked to the difficult, incendiary hard Yod in two places.

Mars, bristling with incendiary Mars/Uranus energy, pins the apex of the hard Yod to one corner of the mystic rectangle.

Semi-sextiles extending from Chiron and Neptune to Uranus and Pluto, join the base of the hard Yod to one corner of the mystic rectangle.

Briefly, the mystic rectangle and the hard Yod form a single, integrated – albeit unstable and challenging - structure.

At one pole is self-assertive Mars with radical change on its fiery mind.  At the other pole are retrograde Chiron and Neptune, exerting a liberating, healing, idealizing and spiritualizing influence.  In between are forces that stress and test personal relationships and forces that support deep psychological releases and spiritual growth.

The mystic rectangle will blend and channel this intense, difficult and highly problematic mix of energies into constructive channels.

The protective, supportive, benevolent effects of the mystic rectangle shouldn't be underestimated. However, the combination of energies is literally and inherently explosive.  They will be difficult to contain even with the mystic rectangle.

While the overall, long-term effect will be beneficial, the specifics, the immediate, near-term events could be hard to deal with.

This is a potent combination of forces that seems designed to trigger the total, simultaneous transformation of individuals and nations.  So complex, intense and wide-ranging are the energies involved.

Personal Healing and Popular Revolt

As noted, this mystic rectangle/hard Yod will support common people trying to enter the already fierce debate over how to deal with the acute challenges that is already taking place at high levels in society and government.

It will saturate our lives with forces that dissolve blockages, cleanse, heal and spiritualize.

It will enable the ego to overcome barriers, in itself and in others, to acceptance and group participation. New alliances - strong, resilient, capable, highly motivated alliances - will form.

In short, the combined mystic rectangle/hard Yod will make a potentially disastrous month a potentially energetic and constructive month.  However, there is no getting around the potential for trouble with this combination of energies.  The level, complexity and intensity of the challenges come close to completely canceling out, or overwhelming, the supportive energies.

While the supportive elements are strong and prominent, so are the destructive, transformative elements.  In the event, it could be very hard to sort out the supportive from the destructive elements in our experience.  In some cases, the supportive forces will win out over the destructive, and vice versa. Some will experience a wild, invigorating, liberating mix of both.  It could take many months to figure out what really happened and whether it was for better or for worse.

It will give many of us one last chance to prepare ourselves for the surge and intensification of reform, protest and conflict that will begin in February. For some, it could bring instant, life-changing turmoil.  For still others, it could just be a brief, quiet moment before chaos breaks out somewhere in the lives of their friends and co-workers.

Midpoint Pictures - Likely Events and Experiences

Mars square the midpoint of Chiron and the ascendant inspires a discussion of past wrongs and a willingness to discuss visions or realizations related to our own suffering and healing processes.

Jupiter opposite the midpoint of the Moon and Mars inspires a love of truth, an appreciation of honesty.

Pluto conjunct the midpoint of Mercury and Chiron
strikes a potentially strident, self-righteous note. Crusading voices will demand healing and redress of grievances.

North node square the midpoint of Sun and the ascendant
encourages the cultivation of friendships and new alliances.

North node opposite the midpoint of Mars and the midheaven
inspire a desire to inspire the community with your own vision.  In some cases, this could bring efforts to impose one's will on the community.

An Economic Note

Last month, in my analysis for September 2011, I discussed the Jupiter/Pluto wealth-building cycle in general terms:
http://bit.ly/q3o1Bg

As noted in that analysis, we are just leaving a relatively smooth phase of this cycle.  We will enter a difficult phase of the present Jupiter/Pluto cycle officially in June 2012.

The difficult phase will last until August 2015, or roughly 3½ [3.5] years.  Pluto's transit of Capricorn will make this a more difficult phase than other, comparable phases.  I think we are already feeling its effects.

The 12 year, Jupiter/Pluto, wealth-building cycle governs, among other things, relations between government power and the power of the wealth-builders.

During the approaching difficult phase of this cycle, it will, for example, be especially hard for governments to coordinate job creation efforts, pass trade agreements, implement effective monetary policies, and so on.

Bottom line?  Don't count too heavily on governmental efforts to solve any of our economic problems in the near term.

The real solution of our economic problems waits upon the solution to more basic issues of social, political and economic justice, which people around the world are really just beginning to hash out.

A Footnote on Comet Elenin

A number of people have written to ask me about the meaning of Comet Elenin. Comet Elenin was discovered on December 10, 2010.  Astrologers often depend on charts for the time of discovery to understand the import of a heavenly body.

I did not do a chart for the moment of discover itself. However, I believe my analysis for December 2010 offers insight into the meaning of Comet Elenin:
http://bit.ly/qWS4iv   It isn't pretty.
