Beyond 2010

Beyond 2010

In May 2010, Uranus will enter Aries. Uranus will then begin a long, slow square to Pluto.

This Uranus/Pluto energy will dominate the upcoming Uranus transit of Aries. It will usher in a new revolution in consciousness.

In all, Uranus will be in Aries for about 7 years. The Uranus/Pluto square will be in effect throughout.

However, the Uranus/Pluto square will be exact 7 times between mid-2012 and spring 2015. The Uranus/Pluto vibration will be especially strong during this three-year period.

A Uranus/Pluto conjunction was largely responsible for the social and political upheavals of the 1960s.

The effects of the upcoming Uranus/Pluto square will be similar. But these changes will be even more profound and lasting. Also, luckily, Jupiter's involvement should lessen any accompanying social upheaval.

It is important to note that the Uranus/Pluto energy will affect the spirituality of everyone on the planet, not just the spirituality of those who belong to particular organized religious groups. As a result, individual moral and ethical standards will rise around the world.

This, in turn, will create widespread demands for reform. It will also likely create widespread conflicts with established powers as it did in the 1960s.

All this change will also put a lot of pressure on people’s minds. This pressure will almost certainly cause psychological difficulties and behavioral issues for many.

However, as noted, benevolent Jupiter, is strongly placed in Pisces. It will be close to Uranus at the time of the ingress. It will join Uranus in Aries shortly after the ingress. This Jupiter influence will help moderate the more difficult potentials of this transit.

Effects in the United States

The composite chart for the Uranus Aries ingress and the United States is especially dramatic. It aims powerful explosive forces squarely at the foundations of US psychological and spiritual life. It does so in a way that is bound to affect US political and economic life, also.

In essence, this Uranus transit will dramatically change the worldview of the average American, rendering it distinctly more progressive, and in a very short space of time. We will also likely see the re-emergence of radical political thinking in the US.

As in most other matters, events in the US will reflect, and be reflected by events in the rest of the world.

Astrological Details of the US Chart

A Pluto/Moon conjunction is angular in the chart. Capricorn, a volatile cardinal sign, is on the ascendant, but it primarily occupies the 12th house. The 12th house, the ascendant and the 1st house all affect the human personality, strongly and directly.

Pluto and the Moon are conjunct on the 12th house side of the Capricorn ascendant, but close to the ascendant. The Moon virtually governs the personality. The ascendant powerfully affects the personality, also.

The 12th house also strongly affects the personality. That is where the personality stores its skeletons, its unfinished business, unmet karmic challenges and its deepest and most troubling secrets.

In brief, this Uranus transit is bound to have a rapid, transformative effect on the US national character.

From Personality to Power Structures in the US

Pluto and Capricorn both govern social power and responsibility. Hence, this transit will almost certainly transform power relations throughout US society.

Uranus in Aries, another volatile, cardinal sign, is angular, also. It is close to the cusp of the 4th house. The 4th house is closely related to personality and character.

Uranus, as a planet, has an especially strong effect on personality and character development, particularly as it relates to the strength of personality and character.

Fortunately, benevolent, protective Jupiter will also be involved in this powerful square. This will moderate the more violent, disruptive potentials.

A Revealing Midpoint Relationship

In this composite chart, Neptune contacts the Uranus/Pluto midpoint. This is definitely the most potent of all the midpoint contacts in the chart. It is exact to within a quarter of a degree, i.e. very exact, and among the two or three most exact midpoint relations in the chart.

This midpoint contact also involves all three potent outer planets. The same outer planets dominate the chart. Hence, we should regard this midpoint contact as having especially reliable predictive value.

This potent midpoint contact involves the signs of Pisces and Sagittarius. These are strongly spiritual and philosophical signs. It also involves the 2nd and 11th houses. These govern personal finance and idealism, respectively. Hence, this midpoint contact will also have tangible, financial effects.

Simply put, the meaning of this midpoint aspect is that disruptive and transformative powers of Uranus and Pluto will be mediated through artistic, idealistic, spiritual Neptune.

This will bring about a flowering of culture that will fill in the vacuum left by the demolition of the old US worldview.

It is also likely to have profoundly unsettling psychological effects at the individual and group level as individuals and groups are opened to high level spiritual energies.

In Sum

So, beginning in about 2012, we will see a revolutionary transformation of the US national character. This in turn will transform political and economic power relations within US society.

This transformation will be supported by the flowering of revolutionary and transformative art, culture, philosophy and spiritual teachings.

This will happen in a way reminiscent of similar transformations in the 1960s, but it will be more profound and more complete. It is also likely to cause the kinds of psychological difficulties and unconventional behavior that usually accompany rapid shifts in consciousness.

My apologies. However, this isn't that kind of blog. I do take the effects on individual signs into account when I am doing the sign-by-sign posts.

Now that you know it is happening, though, you can do a little research about Uranus in Aries. Just plug those words into google.

Thank you, Carl! Very informative. It was very kind of you to apologize to the anonymous coward with a whiny, criticism that was just a personal request. Please keep sharing your insights. Those of Us with good manners appreciate your efforts. We Will Thrive Again in 2010!

@Mistress Didi. I try to be polite to everyone at all times, that way I don't have to wonder how to respond to people. It works most of the time. :}

When i look at this Uranus Square pluto aspect I keep thinking of the great depression and world war II, rise of Hitler in Germany and stuff like that. This is not an aspect like the conjunction of the 60's, this is the 1930's aspect only pluto is in capricorn instead of cancer and that sounds worse. Too me this aspect looks like dooms day stuf and that danger is being down played too much. No one is talking about the last time this aspect happend and it was not the 60's, it was the 30's, this is the perfect aspect to triger world war III. if not in the 2010's then in the 2070's when it happens again.

I began noticing these historical analogies some time back. There are some pieces about it on my blog.

Pluto was last in Capricorn at the end of the 18th century, around the time of the US revolution, etc.

My own 'optimism', or hope, rests in the ***comparatively*** mild response the world has had to present astrological conditions SO FAR. I myself am watching the situation **very** carefully for signs that it is headed south.

The upcoming Uranus/Pluto square does have me worried, especially since Saturn is forming a broad, but affective, T-square with Uranus and Pluto. Keep fingers firmly crossed.

Everyday I see the toll these aspects are taking on the lives of people around me.

I can hear both sides... one thing I wonder about is the influence on human maturity.... That would be a place for hope.... if we are maturing as a species, then would we make the same choices as we did in the 30's or even the 60's....

Carl B. said...

@Carrie I understand what you are saying. For my part, I am waiting to see how the wind blows, so to speak. I am optimistic about the long-term, but short-term, I'm expecting some stresses and strains.

Hi Carl,
I just want to learn something. Well, I am reading everywhere that Uranus is in aries and and it will bring all good things, all best oppurtunities to them for 8 years.Shortly the universe will be at their side. ( bye the way I am not Aries , I am cancer.) So the life and every nice thing will better for them and the bad things will remain with us? There is no bad news for them?
thanks

Banu

Banu,

That is the "happy talk" version of Uranus in Aries. Many astrologers only write about the good parts. They also make them seem better than they are.

I discuss Uranus in Aries in my May 2010 post. But I talk about general effects only. It might help you understand.

So, the 1960's was anti-establishment, which became the establishment. Does this mean that we will trend back to the establishment of the pre-1960's era or go off to yet a different type of establishment?

@victoria

I think it is always a question of balance. The 60's went too far in one direction. In subsequent years, we went back too far in the other direction.

This time around? It will be similar, I believe.

But you also have to factor in all these huge planetary things going on with the advent of the Aquarian Age. IMO, we will be a couple of thousand years balancing and re-balancing and moving forward.

I think the old 'metrics' will slowly become irrelevant as we move into a very different value system and a very different political dynamic.
